Autographed and inscribed 5” x 7” photograph of the Italian bass as Giorgio in “I Puritani”, Rome, 1961. Clabassi was the son in law of tenor Beniamino Gigli, married for a time to his daughter Rina. He also starred with Maria Callas as Rochefort in the 1957 La Scala production of “Anna Bolena.” Clabassi can be heard to great advantage as Ferrando in the RAI movie of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” with Mario Del Monaco, Leyla Gencer and Ettore Bastianini. |
