LIBERO DE LUCA - TENOR |
|
Autographed and inscribed 5” x 7” photograph of the Swiss tenor as Alfredo Germont, Paris, 24 June, 1963. De Luca (1913-1998) hailed from Kreuzlingen, initially studied as a baritone. Alfredo Cairati recognized a bright tenor voice and he pursued studies as a lyric tenor. After winning a vocal competition in 1941, he made his debut in Bern the following year. He reached Zurich as their star tenor in 1943 and Paris called in 1949, where he made the majority of his career until 1960. He retired in 1961 and taught near Lake Constance. De Luca excelled in the French lyric repertory and made complete recordings of Carmen (Suzanne Juyol), Lakmé (Mado Robin), Manon & Mignon (Janine Micheau). |
