TODOR MAZAROFF - TENOR |
|
Autographed and inscribed 4” x 6” photograph of the Bulgarian tenor as Manrico, Vienna, June 26, 1944.
Mazaroff hailed from Bulgaria. He was discovered by Bruno Walter, who signed him up for the Vienna Staatsoper in 1937. He remained faithful to the house until 1953 and he retired from singing in 1963. Mazaroff also sung throughout Italy, where he was a favorite at La Scala, Rome, Venice, Florence and Parma for his squillo, ringing high notes and his Italianate sound. He also sung in Buenos Aires, Chicago, Moscow, Paris and Prague, however, his real opportunities were limited after the War. |
