Autographed 4” x 6” pebble grained original photograph of the German soprano in her creator role, the Italian Singer in Richard Strauss’s last opera “Capriccio.”
The photograph is on a postcard mount and blind embossed on the verso. Beilke, a German lyric soprano created the role of the Italian Singer in the World Premier at the Bayerische Staatsoper on 28 October, 1942. Beilke was a regular in Berlin and Vienna and she made guest appearances at both Covent Garden and the Glyndebourne Festival. The MET performed a very successful revival of the “mini-Rosenkavalier” this season. |
