Autographed and inscribed postcard of the important German bass, 14 October, 1937. He writes his title “Kammersänger” beneath his name, a title accorded to him by the Austrian government. Lordmann, born in Cologne was a mainstay at the Vienna Volksoper during the 1910’s and 20’s. This photograph is a curiosity, as it is one of the few we have seen with a Nazi party pin on a singer’s lapel. The only other one we have seen was Josef von Manowarda. Needless to say an unsavory, but interesting operatic curiosity. |
