Autographed original Dietrich of Vienna postcard photograph of the German soprano as Senta in “Der Fliegende Hollander.” Konetzni had one of the largest voices in operatic history. Her career was launched in 1929 at Chemnitz as Sieglinde. When Lotte Lehmann left Vienna after the Anschluss, Konetzni was asked to replace her as the Marschallin. Within a very few years, she was the go-to soprano at the Vienna Staatsoper for the great Wagner, Strauss and Mozart dramatic roles. While the majority of her career was spent in Vienna, Konetzni also guested in South America, London and Zürich, also she sung with Alexander Kipnis in a concert tour of the U.S. in 1939. |
